Adults learning employment skills by working with electronics

Independence starts with a foundation.

Green Vision is where participants begin building the skills, habits, and confidence that lead to greater independence. It's structured, it's hands-on, and every task is designed with a purpose.

Real tasks. Real skills. Every day.

Employment Related Skills is the foundation of Green Vision's program structure. Participants work alongside trained staff on our recycling floor, learning to identify electronic components, use hand tools safely, follow multi-step dismantling processes, and sort materials by type. Through repetition and supported practice, participants develop:

Task Sequencing

Following step-by-step processes from start to finish.

Safety Awareness

Identifying hazards, using protective equipment, and following protocols.

Workplace Behavior

Time management, focus, following directions, and working as part of a team.

Communication

Interacting with staff and peers in a structured work environment.

How It's Structured

This program isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach. Each participant’s goals, pace, and support needs are different. Our staff work with participants individually, adjusting tasks and expectations as skills develop.

That individualization is a real difference. People come to us shaped by their own history — strengths, sensitivities, communication styles, ways they prefer to work. We don’t flatten any of that. We build a day around it. The traits that show up here are met with curiosity and respect, not redirected into something more convenient. That’s the foundation that makes the rest of the program possible.

Progress is tracked and documented. Participants advance when they’re ready — not on a fixed timeline. For many, this is the entry point to Green Vision’s broader program progression, leading to community inclusion activities and continued growth toward greater independence.

Who It's For

This program is designed for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are ready to engage in structured work-based learning. Fit is reviewed individually — based on each person’s ISP, goals, support needs, and Green Vision’s ability to support them well.

If you’re not sure whether your family member or client is a good fit, the best next step is a tour. Seeing the program in action answers more questions than any description can.
